By Matthew Strauss / CBP 2o11 Intern Program
I saw a few posts in the last few months showing fire images, so I thought I’d write a little post on Fire Photography.
I’m the Arizona Director of the International Fire Photographers Association and aside from training photographers in fireground operations, helicopter operations, etc., I coordinate photography for most of Arizona’s local and state fire agencies. Fire photographers document emergency scenes, advise crews in photographic matters, such as HIPAA, and cover general photography for a department, such as LODD Portraits (Portraits used when a firefighter dies in the line of duty), regular portraits, community outreach, promotional materials, and training.
My goal for AZ is to place a photographer with each department desiring one, and to train new photographers in fireground operations and safety. If it sounds like something you might be interested in, there are several departments across the state I need to place a photographer with, some being Wittmann, Mayer, Payson, and more. Check out the IFPA link above for more information on fire photography, and email me if you have any interest.
